Aside from being one of the better DS9 espionage stories, Apocalypse Rising starts to reveal the full scope of the Dominion/Changeling threat in a pretty unsettling way. The far ranging implications are exciting, and also it’s just fun to see Sisko and friends do their best Klingon impressions.
Sisko gets orders that he has to infiltrate the Klingons, and expose Gowron as a changeling. No problemOdo is having trouble adjusting to being a solid, but he thinks bubbles are pretty cool, which he couldn’t fully appreciate before. So maybe this is better than being able to change shape into anything you want or The Great Link or any of that stuff ya knowThe plan is to catch Gowron with some pokeballs.They need Dukats help!Luckily they know the same makeup department that works on the Klingons, so they blend right in.Martok may recognize them!Gowron shows up.but then they get caught!Martok believes that Gowron is a changling too, but the pokeballs were destroyed. He says he’ll help them escape if they kill Gowron and show he’s a changeling.But then Odo figures out that Martok is the changeling! The stretchy arm is what gives it away, for future reference.On a side note, I’m happy that Worf beats Gowron in a fight.Gowron says sorry fellas I sure do have egg on my face. But we still kinda want to keep this war going. We’re having a good time (paraphrasing)
