[TNG] Season 6, Episode 22: Suspicions
Rating: 2
It’s nice to have a Beverly episode, especially since she’s doing a vaguely film noir thing, but this one pretty much just coasts on generic TNG fumes rather than making anything fun from the noir framework.

Notes:
Beverly lost her job! She’s gonna tell us/Guinan how it happened.
She gathered a bunch of scientists to observe a Ferengi’s metaphasic shielding experiment! There’s a Vulcan/human couple, who were competition, a klingon scientist who is angry and klingon, and then a guy no one knows anything about but he could be a murderer idk
Because of the metaphasic shielding they can fly real close to a sun! big deal, I’ve seen Voyager do this like 172 times.
But then things go wrong! The pilot dies!
The project is shut down and then the Ferengi is found dead!
They can’t do an autopsy because according to Ferengi ritual, a body can’t be messed with. There has never been a murder investigation on Ferenginar I guess.
Beverly won’t give up the investigation, so she asks everyone if they murdered him or not.
but eventually she does the forbidden autopsy.
Riker tells her something, as a friend.
She gives the metaphasic shield another shot because she thinks it was sabotaged the first time.
It was this guy! His species can pretend to be dead. This is some real Agatha Christie type stuff.
So Beverly kills him some more.
