[VOY] Season 4, Episode 22: Unforgettable

The dramatic potential of “Unforgettable” gets ground out of this episode by an over dependency on classic Trek plotting. Much of the episode is spent wondering if the alien character is telling the truth or not, not giving enough space for the emotional beats. For instance, her memory is erased near the very end of the episode, neglecting the new emotional territory that creates for a ‘twist’ ending. But hey, Virginia Madsen!

Her species has a pheromone that makes everyone else forget them. Their species has kind of just ran with the whole secrecy thing, and now they don’t even let their own people leave so there’s no chance word gets out about them.

The tables have turned! Chakotay tries to convince her that they were in love, but now she thinks she’d better go home.
