There’s an interesting but still kind of outlandish concept to kick this episode off, but it feels like a better episode could be made from exploring some other aspect of the idea rather than wallowing in O’Brien’s pain for an entire episode. What did Colm Meaney do to the writing staff of this show??

Aliens make O’Brien live out a 20 year prison sentence in his mind
This is the part where you should say “hmmm that’s an interesting concept” and then skip to the next episode
O’Brien tells everyone that he was alone in the imaginary prison, but his flashbacks say otherwise!
O’Brien starts envisioning his prison friend around the station.
O’Brien isn’t all that much fun to be around anymore.
His prison friend taught him how to draw circles. I hope at the end of the episode, instead of him playing a sad flute song like Picard in Inner Light, there’s a sad O’Brien drawing circles.
O’Brien starts snapping more and frequently. It’s not a ton of fun to watch.
He wrecks up a cargo area!
He even forgot which tool to use to shave. Bashir helps him out though.
He confesses that he killed his imaginary friend in prison in a super dark turn.
So then he’s like better I guess, the end.
