[TAS] Season 2, Episode 2: Bem
Rating: Skip (For The Animated Series we use a simpler WATCH or Skip rating)
Apart from one super strange element, there isn’t much to this episode. It’s kind of a jumble of other Trek episodes. I guess your mileage on this depends on how into an alien inexplicably popping his body parts off and growing little vine things out from them. I mean…. You’re already watching the Animated Series, I guess you’re onboard for just about anything Trek at this point.

Bem is assigned to observe Enterprise, but hasn’t been all that into it until they get a dangerous mission. I like how Kirk has no patience with him from the start.
He’s foolin around with the transporter!
The transporter is a little off.
Bem jumps in to help, but then detaches his legs. I accept a lot of weird things in Star Trek, but… I do not… accept… this.

Bem’s pieces float off.
But all of Bem gets captured.
Man TAS does some extreme close ups.
Kirk and Spock split off to rescue Bem, but they get captured too.
Bem is disappointed in Kirk and Spock’s inability to grow vine-limbs out from their torso-stumps.
But then colors and a voice show up and tell them to stop messing with her lizard people.
ssssooooo everybody is re-captured.
Bem decides he’s just gonna take off by himself(s).
Kirk manages to communicate with the colors again and convinces her to let them go.
But Kirk won’t leave without Bem.
This guy on the search party walks like a dinosaur.
They rescue Bem, which convinces him that Kirk and company are ok after all.
