[ENT] Season 4, Episode 17: Bound
Rating: 3
It’s nice to see the Orions developed some more, and the episode doesn’t pander to fans of the The Original Series as much as one might expect. It would’ve been nice to see more episodes about the Orions, since “Bound” only hints at the potential of a culture in which one gender manipulates the other (and members of other species) with pheromones. The plot itself has the weakness episodes of Trek often have: the audience is way ahead of the characters, and there’s no particular dramatic tension wrung from that disparity.

Notes:

The next obvious sign that people aren’t acting like themselves is that Archer wants to destroy an annoying but defenseless ship.

Phlox says it’s the pheromones. They make the guys listen to whatever the Orion girls want them to do, and it makes the ship’s women have headaches.

TWIST It’s not the women that are slaves, but the MEN! Why else would they have all those things glued to their heads?
