[TNG] Season 4, Episode 14: CluesRating: 3
The mysterious nature of this episode makes it compelling, but as soon as they reveal what happened the episode loses some of its charm. I don’t know what I expected to happen. I think the episode kind of lives on the eeriness of Data keeping something from the rest of the crew, and watching Picard head up the investigation into what Data might be concealing.

Notes:
leisure time!
Crusher looks at some spheres!
Picard tries to explain to Guinan how much fun mysteries are. I wonder if that will be the theme of this episode
Then they see a little warm hole or something
and it puts everyone to sleep except Data.
Data says they were out for 30 seconds
Instead of risking it by continuing on, they send a probe to check out the class M planet they were interested in…
But then there are a bunch of “Clues”! Crusher’s spheres have some pink moss in them that usually takes a day to grow!
The planet they thought was M class isn’t so class M-ey anymore!
data gives a lame explanation for why the moss could have grown!
Transporter data doesn’t match up!
Evidence of tampering!
Troi starts feeling dizzy, even when Worf touches her arm!
Worf’s wrist hurts a little!
Picard confronts Data because clearly he isn’t saying everything he knows, and evidence points to him tampering with stuff. Data says he’s ready to face the court martial, but he can’t say anything.
Worf’s healed wrist suggests that Crusher was awake for the day that they can’t remember.
They return to the scene of the initial incident.
A green cloud goes onto Troi’s face and gives her a weird voice
Data and an alien speaking through Troi explain what really happened. Data was just lookin’ out for the crew, ’cause these aliens don’t want any one to know of their existence.
The aliens erase their memory and give it another shot. Hopefully they don’t leave so many “Clues” this time!
