[TAS] Season 1, Episode 14: The Eye of the Beholder
Rating: WATCH (For The Animated Series we use a simpler Watch or Skip rating)
I don’t know, this isn’t like a great episode or anything, but it’s got some good monsters and a lot of cool background paintings. The plot is suitably cartoony and simple, but it isn’t outright nonsense like these sometimes are. For the Animated Series, that can be enough to earn a ‘watch’.

Notes:
Bones, Kirk, and Spock beam to a planet because some federation people went missing there.
They see a monster
and then another
they shoot this one in the neck
And then it falls on Bones! Wait, how big is this thing? It seemed human sized before, but I guess it’s like a dragon or something.
They talk about having to walk a few miles before getting to where they want to go. Why didn’t they just beam in closer?
Spock says that the environment is a little too perfect. He suspects terraforming.
But then they’re captured by giant slugs!
The slugs are observing the away team and reading their minds.
They’re taken past a bunch of areas for different species, like a zoo, guys.
They get to their habitat, and find the missing federation members
One of them is sick
Since the slugs are telepathic, they all try thinking about Bones’ medical bag
The slugs end up giving them the medical bag, so they try the same trick with their communicator
One of the baby slugs gives the communicator to Kirk, but then takes it back right when Kirk tells Scotty to beam him up.
They get pissed about their missing baby and attack Kirk’s mind!
But I guess Scotty made friends with the baby, and they beam back. From what the baby learned about Enterprise and the Federation, they decide that they shouldn’t keep humans in the zoo, cause they’re alright.
