This is another episode that could really strike a chord with people, but it’s not for everyone. Obviously someone having a crisis of faith leading to wondering what the purpose of their life is, and even whether their life is worth living, is fertile ground for drama. This episode just kind of checks
off some boxes and moves on, there’s no real exploration of the issues Neelix is facing.

Seven says he’s not THAT dead
Neelix is brought back to life after being dead for 18 hours.
He had believed that he would go to the great forest when he died and be with all his loved ones, but that didn’t happen. It’s time for….. A CRISIS OF FAITH!
Naomi had been having trouble sleeping, thinking that there were monsters in her room. Maybe it’s ’cause that demon-horse thing in the corner.
Neelix wishes that Seven never saved him! This is pretty dark for Neelix. I guess this dude has some low lows to go with his high highs.
Chakotay helps Neelix go through a vision quest
In his vision quest he sees his sister telling him the great forest is bogus, then he sees the crew of Voyager tell him that life is meaningless and that “he knows what to do”
He interprets this to mean he should just end his life. He tries to beam himself into space
Chakotay tries to convince him to stop, but it was ultimately Wildman just wondering in, not knowing what was going on, and asking Neelix to help get Noami to sleep, so The End I guess.
