[VOY] Season 4, Episode 11: Concerning FlightRating: 2
This episode is mostly Janeway and the da Vinci hologram hijinks, so there’s a lot of plot gymnastics to get them from one place to another. Your mileage will vary depending on how interesting you think the Janeway/da Vinci hologram stuff is. The only thing it does for me is remind me that Star Trek has almost zero consistency concerning hologram technology. As far as I can tell, the only reason this da Vinci program isn’t sentient and The Doctor is, is because the writers just say that’s the case. Not that ‘Concerning Flight’ cares much about sentience. They obviously just think it’s super entertaining and charming to run around with da Vinci, and maybe it would be if it was written better, but most scenes are mediocre at best.

Notes:
Janeway and Leonardo da Vinci were testing out flying. It didn’t work
Aliens come by and steal some of Voyager’s stuff with special transporter technology. That’s a pretty good idea for something Voyager might run up against.
They stole the Doctor’s mobile emitter!
Seven and Kim are as awkward as ever
While trying to locate their stuff, Janeway goes to a market and finds da Vinci with the mobile emitter.
He takes her to his new workplace, which reminds me of Beakman’s World or something
Janeway finds Voyager’s computer and poses as someone who wants to buy it
Janeway makes reference to Kirk claiming that he met Leonardo da Vinci
da Vinci and Janeway go on a mission to this very alien and futuristic location to get the computer back.
they find it and beam it back
da Vinci gets shot and it passes right through him. He wants explanations!
There’s a scene that is reminiscent of Picard explaining advanced technology to the proto-Vulcan in “Who Watches the Watchers,” only Janeway’s version goes more like this: “you know birds are like really stupid, and they can’t understand stuff? That’s you, you’re as dumb as a bird.”
I kept wondering why the writers kept prolonging the episode, coming up with reasons why they couldn’t be teleported right away. Turns out it was so they could fly away.
Shortly after they take off, Kim just teleports them to Voyager.
