[DS9] Season 4, Episode 12: Paradise LostRating: 3
The continuation of the ‘Homefront’ story picks up considerably. There’s a lot of following-a-lead story business that’s fine enough. The best parts show how much a few Dominion operatives can really scramble Earth and the Federation’s systems. There’s a pretty tangible sense of dread that is building through Deep Space Nine in general, and “Paradise Lost” is a significant chapter.

Notes:
Sisko and Odo try to figure out how all the power on earth could have been turned off. They think there might be a link to red squad.
Sisko contacts a guy and wants to talk about red squad, but he asks that those files pointing to red squad be deleted
Sisko tells Nog to give him a name of someone in red squad. I like how this scene turns from cordial to Sisko demanding the name
So Sisko questions some red squad dweeb. They were ordered to shut off earth’s power
Sisko and Odo convince the president that the admiral is behind the sabotage, in order to gain control of earth to adequately protect it
The admiral says Sisko is fired from his position on earth
A changeling visits Sisko and says all this chaos was just from 4 changelings on earth!
Sisko does some more digging. The admiral is going to seize power soon. He’s been positioning all of his old friends in positions of power
The admiral figures out a way to make Sisko look like he’s a changeling from a blood test
Odo rescues him.
Sisko holds the admiral hostage until the defiant can come with evidence of the conspiracy
but then one of the admiral’s friends is ordered to disable the defiant. When the admiral tells the friend to destroy the ship if possible, the friend realizes that this is probably crazy.
The admiral gives up
