[ENT] Season 4, Episode 9: Kir’Shara Rating: 3
Kir’Shara draws the Vulcan storyline to a close, but it also continues to set the stage for some other interesting plot points about the eventual founding of the Federation, and the very different dynamics between major alien species otherwise familiar to Trek fans. The idea of an entire race having something of a “character arc” is central to the story Kir’Shara concludes, and something we would’ve liked to have seem more thoroughly addressed through out Enterprise. This storyline did an admirable job showing one of the most important points in Vulcan history without it feeling like a perfunctory explanation, which is often the problem with prequels.

Notes:

Somehow Syran, who melded with Archer, knew about the Vulcans attacking Andoria, even though some of the high command didn’t really know that much about it.

T’Pau tells T’Pol that there’s a way to fix her disease she got from melding with that guy a long time ago. Remember that metaphor?

Shran has to be certain that it’s not some kind of trick so he puts Soval through some light torture. No biggie.

Some Vulcans working for the high command find Archer, T’Pol, and T’Pau and have a very logical confrontation.

This guy gets increasingly nasty. He wants T’Pol executed, and keeps pushing the invasion of Andoria forward. Something… might… be… up…

Enterprise tries to keep the Vulcan and Andorian forces from attacking each other, but that doesn’t work too well.

I wondered what they were going to come up with that would so drastically change all of Vulcan society, thinking that there was no real nice way of doing it, but the Kir’Shara actually makes decent sense. Discovering original Surak teachings would have a large effect.

Turns out it was T’Pol’s husband that helped get Archer and T’Pau in. He says he’ll release T’Pol from the marriage.
