[TNG] Season 4, Episode 9: Final MissionRating: 2
It’s time for Wesley to leave The Next Generation. “Final Mission” is a little better than the typical survival/bonding Star Trek episode. Maybe it’s because it has Picard in it, maybe because the status quo of TNG actually changes after this episode.

Notes:
Wesley gets word that he’s going to starfleet academy.
He goes on one last mission with Picard but they have to crash instead, ’cause that’s how these episodes go.
The guy they are there with likes to question Picard’s decisions, but luckily Wesley is there to stick up for Picard. Kind of reminds me of how kids brag about their dad being stronger than everyone.
Meanwhile Enterprise has to tow some garbage.
Picard, Wesley and the other guy find there way to a cave and find some water.
But it’s trick water! It has some kind of protection program. The other guy tries to shoot it and it makes everything go crazy.
Picard saves Wesley from falling rocks and is knocked out.
The other guy thinks it would probably work if they fired two phasers at the shield. He dies.
Wesley and Picard have a heart to heart. It’s actually pretty good. If you’re going to watch “Final Mission” it’s to see these scenes.
Wesley is a tricorder boss
And it unlocks the water, which keeps Picard alive long enough for Enterprise to get there.
