[ENT] Season 4, Episode 3: Home

“Home” is basically an epilogue after the traumatic season three arc. I think its a good idea to have an episode like this following the moral turmoil Archer faced in the previous season, but the writing (combined with Bakula’s weak performance) isn’t able to depict the emotional fallout he and the crew are experiencing. It doesn’t help that this episode can easily be compared to The Next Generation’s “Best of Both Worlds” epilogue, “Family”, which achieves similar goals in a much better way. The other plot line – T’Pol and Trip facing T’Pol’s arranged marriage to someone else – sets in motion a pretty annoying narrative thread that weaves through an otherwise strong fourth season.

Archer yells at Soval causes he’s questioning him and stuff.
Admiral Forest tells Archer to take a vacation. Archer’s pissed.
T’Pol and Trip go to Vulcan and stay with T’Pol’s mom…
Someone who is likely difficult to confront thought this was a good idea.
There are some xenophobic people on earth now. At first I thought it was kind of a strange thing to add into the episode, but it’s actually more of a setup for a later story.
T’Pol’s arranged husband shows up
Hernandez seems cool but Archer is in full-mopey-Archer-mode for this episode, so we don’t get to see her do much.
etc, etc, they fall in love.
T’Pol’s mom is being punished for T’Pol leaving. I don’t think Vulcans have very good eye sight. Do they know they aren’t even facing each other?
T’Pol is going to get married to that other guy because it will help her mother even though she kind of had a thing with Trip ugh I don’t care
Soval sticks his hand towards Archer.
T’Pol gets married!
