[TNG] Season 4, Episode 1: The Best of Both Worlds Pt. 2
Inevitably the second part of Best of Both Worlds can’t quite live up to the previous installment, but it’s still an exciting, and sometimes chilling conclusion to Riker’s confrontation with the Borg and Locutus. Though the weakeness’ are minor, it would’ve been nice to see Riker be more central in the resolution of the main plot, instead of Data carrying most of that narrative weight. Still, the way Riker steps up, the growth in his relationship with Shelby, and the creepy interactions with Locutus easily make this episode a 4.

Notes:

Enterprise fires it’s super laser that Geordi had been working on, but it doesn’t do anything. Uh-oh…..

Locutus has all of Picard’s knowledge and he knew how to defend against it. It’s also really creepy when he calls Riker, “Number One”

Admiral J.P. is gathering an armada to confront the cube before it gets to Earth. He said that we have to consider Picard a casualty.

Guinan tells Riker that he can’t try to think about what Picard would do if he were there, because Locutus will predict his actions.

The Borg have found a way to keep people from beaming on their ship, so Worf and Data have to go through their shield in a shuttle.

Locutus remains connected to the Borg. Data and Beverly try to figure out how to release Picard. Troi was also there.

Picard starts to show himself. Right before Riker was about to go to warp right into the Borg cube they figure out a way for Data to send a command to all of the Borg. He tells them to go to sleep.
