[DS9] Season 3, Episode 23: Family Business

This episode is mainly about the turmoil in Quarks family, which largely consists of Quark and his mother being terrible to each other. It also expands on the uninteresting aspects of the Ferengi, and makes some bad attempts at humor. Unfortunately you should probably watch this episode since three recurring characters are introduced.

Quark and Rom are in trouble because their mother has been caught making profit. She’s been investing the money that Quark has been sending her.
This episode expands on the concept of Ferengi culture, and their sexism in particular, which has never been interesting to me.
Ferengi mothers are supposed to chew up the food for their family, so it’s easier to swallow. Dumb.
Ferengi women are never supposed to wear clothes. Dumb.
Ferengi mothers sharpen their kids teeth. I guess it’s in case they ever have to chew their own food.
Sisko meets Kassidy!
Ferengi society doesn’t allow Moogie to make profit, even though she’s really good at it. I thought we’re supposed to hate how profit driven the Ferengi were, but I guess we should still root for her.
Moogie won’t share any of her profit with Quark. I know Moogie’s trying to stick it to the man and all, but really Quark should get a little share, since he was the sole investor.
Then there’s a scene where they aren’t horrible to each other.
Sisko and Kassidy go on their first date. They both like baseball!

Moogie signs the confession, so quark won’t be ruined.
