[TOS] Season 3, Episode 21: The Cloud Minders
It seems like the themes of this episode became a little too jumbled up. Their depiction of the planet-bound group is particularly unfocused. It would be one thing if they were a complicated group that did bad things but were oppressed, but in “The Cloud Minders” it feels more like they serve the plot before anything else.

Notes:

Kirk and Spock are rescued by some of the people that live in the sky city. The guards look… really…. cool.

Droxine: “I have never before met a Vulcan, sir.”
Spock: “Nor I a work of art, madam.”
It’s weird that Spock has a love interest, but it’s weirder that it seems like it’s mostly physical attraction that interests Spock.

Bones explains that the minerals that the miners are refining messes with their brains and that’s why they’re dumber and more violent.

How quickly did they have to shoot this scene? Could they not stop for a minute to straighten his mask?

He has the leader of the sky city beamed down so he can understand how the minerals affect a person’s brain

At the end it’s implied that negotiations might start between the two groups but it still seems like they totally hate each other…
