[VOY] Season 3, Episode 15: Coda
Rating: 2
The weirdness in the first half is sort of interesting, but once the episode suggests that Janeway might be dead and in the afterlife, “Coda” becomes pretty tedious.

Several times during this episode they talk about last night’s “talent night.” Janeway did a ballet routine, Kim played his clarinet, and Tuvok read poetry. They keep talking about how Tuvok’s poetry was totally lame. It’s another example of the writers apparently not understanding that Tuvok is the coolest character
Janeway almost dies
But then they’re back in the shuttle, before the incident even happened. It seems like they’re stuck in a time loop.
Then they get blown up by the Vidiians.
They keep going back to the same moment, and then die in different ways. If you’re really interested in the explanation to all of this, you’ll be disappointed. This never makes any sense.
One time she dies by the phage, and everything is all crazy. What’s going on??
Then her dad shows up and says she’s dead and is now a ghost. At this point the episode settles down a little.
Janeway doesn’t accept that she’s dead and thinks she can get through to Kes, because she’s magic, but it doesn’t work.
They hold a memorial for Janeway. They only brought enough chairs for Harry. All this funeral stuff is pretty awful.
But then Janeway has visions of lying on the ground on that planet.
It’s actually an alien trying to lure Janeway into some portal, but he can’t just take her there, so he had to convince her that she was dead, and have her go willingly. So as I mentioned before, the segments about Janeway dying in different ways doesn’t fit into his plan at all, and just happened for no reason, except that maybe Janeway was just trippin’ out.
“Go back to hell, coward”
Then Janeway is healed. Chakotay brings her a rose, and then they talk about going to the holodeck on a moonlight sail.
