[VOY] Season 3, Episode 8: Future’s End Pt. 1
Rating: 2

This episode is fun, and they got some good guest stars, but “Future’s End” is filled with really basic, integral plot problems. Maybe if the jokes were funnier or the adventure was a little better that wouldn’t have been as big a deal. I guess I’ve just had my fill of a Star Trek cast walking around in current time periods making their smarmy comments.

Notes:

She even carries the futuristic tennis ball with her to the bridge. I’m glad in the future we figured out how to improve on our crummy ball technology.

But then there’s a distortion in the space time continuum! But it’s got a graviton matrix! It’s being artificially generated!

A federation time traveler says there will be a disaster and he has to destroy Voyager. He says he doesn’t have time to explain. Why would a time traveler be short on time? His only evidence is that there were bits of Voyager in the wreckage of an explosion. So that means Voyager is the cause obviously. And the only way to stop it is to destroy Voyager obviously.

So they end up in 1996. Despite having a Neelix on board, ’90’s people with mohawks blow the senior staff’s minds.

Paris meets Sarah Silverman. I like that throughout the episode Paris isn’t as proficient as he thinks he is in his ’90s knowledge.

Janeway tries to get the time ship back from Stan Sitwell, who plays an evil rich guy that’s been profiting off the ship’s technology.
