[VOY] Season 3, Episode 7: Sacred Ground
Rating: 1
This episode has a lot of spirit people needlessly messing around with Janeway, who tries to figure everything out from a scientific perspective which this episode seems to think is pretty dumb. As far as I can tell the main message is just that belief is really fun, and you don’t always have to try and ruin it with explaining stuff.

Notes:
While visiting a spiritual cave of some sort, Kes runs into a tunnel that knocks her out. Maybe the guy giving the tour could’ve warned them about the death tunnels
Janeway is going to go through their ritual to talk to the spirits. She’s heard that some of the people can survive going through the death tunnel, and she wants to figure out how in order to see if it can save Kes. Also, the mom from Freaks and Geeks is there.
I think it’s funny when a person tries to touch Janeway’s hair and Janeway starts to run away. She was expecting harsh physical challenges, but she was not prepared for hair touching.
They paint something on her face. They claim it is part of the ritual.
She finds some old character actors and another tv mom
Janeway wants to get on with the ritual already
First she holds a rock
After taking a break to finger paint, she climbs a cave wall
She reaches her hand into a basket and something bites her
The spirits tell Janeway she has what she needs to save Kes. The Doctor interprets this to mean the venom from the bite must help Kes
But then Kes gets worse
Janeway goes back to see the old people. I guess they were just screw’n with her with all that ritual stuff. They say just go to the death tunnel again. Oh, and she has to really believe the spirits will save Kes and then it will happen
She does, and it works
The Doctor figures out an explanation of what happened, but Janeway seems put off by the Doctor trying to find a scientific reason.
