They are contacted by a Romulan ship. They want their guy back. They also say there was definitely only one Romulan on the planet

Geordi’s visor stops working for him, but they need it to work with his tricorder in order to get back to Enterprise. Geordi talks him through the process. He gets really excited when it works

Picard has a confrontation with the Romulan warbird. At first he was really adamant that they not cross the neutral zone, and he wants to get to the bottom of why they were on the planet, but then he talks about being the first one to show a sign of trust
