[TNG] Season 3, Episode 4: Who Watches The Watchers
The message of this episode is delivered in bit of an over zealous way, but overall is pretty fun. However, the point of Who Watches is that Picard shouldn’t be worshiped. I was unconvinced.
Update: This episode was previously rated a 2, but we’ve come around.

Notes:

A federation outpost meant to be studying a proto-Vulcan culture has an accident and Enterprise has to go fix it

Picard tells Crusher to do that memory wipe thing that Pulaski did that one time. Crusher already starts making excuses about his species being different.

The guy tells everyone that he’s seen “the overseer” which is a god, and his name is Picard. uh oh. The Prime Directive is gonna be mad.

…Allowing Riker to get away with the federation guy. Basically this was a slightly more elaborate version of “Everybody! Look over there!”

The observer suggests that Picard pretend to be their god, but give them some guidelines so they don’t go crazy. Picard doesn’t like this idea.

The best part of this episode is Picard showing the woman the wonders of their technology, and explaining how he’s just a guy.

Picard beams to the planet, but the guy has a hard time believing he’s not a god. He wants to shoot Picard to prove that he can’t die

It’s cool how Picard is willing to die to prove he’s not a god, but the guy actually shoots him, and then Crusher saves Picard. You would think this might convince him that Picard really is a god.
