[DS9] Season 2, Episode 25 (Netflix: S2 E25): Tribunal
Rating: 2
Any time Star Trek has a trial episode where a main character is the suspect they need the episode to be about something else in addition to how the trial resolves, because everyone already knows how it will resolve. This episode is about the Cardassian justice system, and the increased tensions due to the Maquis situation. I didn’t feel like we learned anything new in terms of the Maquis situation, and I liked the idea of Cardassian trials more when it was just explained by Dukat. These aren’t serious negatives, they’re only not strong enough positives to get past the problem of watching the motions of a trial of which we already know the conclusion.

Notes:
O’Brien runs into an old friend who has a mustache
After the mustached man talks with O’Brien he goes into a dark room and listens to the conversation. He’s either up to no good or he’s a total weirdo
You shouldn’t put food on top of computer consoles
O’Brien is apprehended by the Cardassians. They only have one light, not four. The Cardassians must be cutting costs
A guy comes and explains how Cardassian trials provide a show for people, and give them assurance that they live in a just and ordered society. O’Brien keeps asking everyone what the charges are against him. I get that the charges don’t matter since he’s already found guilty, but why not just tell him?
Odo comes to help O’Brien during the trial
At the end of the episode the mustached man, who is actually a Cardassian, and Sisko walk in, which tells the judge that the federation knows what’s up. The judge lets O’Brien go.
O’Brien is scary when he’s happy
