[DS9] Season 2, Episode 24 (Netflix: S2 E24): The Collaborator

This episode needs to be watched for continuity but it only earns a 2. It’s mostly a lot of Bajoran politics. The characters facing consequences are Winn and Bareil, who are characters we care about, but not main characters, making it so the stakes actually feel high…well, as high as they can feel for an alien political/religious election.

Bareil visits Kira. They seem to still get along
Winn is there too. She’s quite the charmer.
Winn and Bareil are both in the running for being chosen as the next Kai. Winn is investigating possible dirt on Bareil. He could have been a collaborator!
Kira and Odo investigate
Bareil keeps having weird visions when he looks into the weird vision orb
Bareil is the face inside a circle on a computer console! That means he’s the collaborator!
Bareil drops out and Winn becomes the next Kai. In this episode they talk about Winn being one of the last people who would be a collaborator. I wish they played this up more. They should have made her act courageously in some way during the occupation and that contributes to her popularity. I think it would’ve added more depth to her because sometimes it just seems like they want to make her pure evil
But then Kira finds out that Bareil was just covering for Opaka (the last Kai)
