[VOY] Season 2, Episode 22 (Netflix: S2 E22): Innocence

I really like the first 15 minutes of this episode. I like how Tuvok talks to the children like adults (until they start misbehaving), how he explains his own children and Vulcans in general. I was surprised to read on Memory Alpha that Jeri Taylor explained this episode as a “fish out of water story”. To me it seemed like Tuvok is really good at dealing with children, aside from brief moments of panic when they hug him. Unfortunately this episode starts to go down hill and ends with a dumb twist.

Tuvok crashes on a planet and a guy dies

He catches a child

Janeway meets with members of the same species. I think there’s a mosquito problem on their planet

Tuvok teaches the children how to control their fears and meditate

The kids start to misbehave

Then he sings

It turns out that the children are really over 90 and they age in reverse. Aging backwards is a concept I don’t find interesting at all. And also the birthing process is probably weird and gross
