Like with the first season, we’ve compiled some of the ratings for season two of The Next Generation all in one place to compare. We took the ratings from a few different reviewers and calculated what their scores would be out of 100. Keep in mind that they originally didn’t rate the episodes with that exact scale, but we tried to accurately translate their rating. It’s also important to keep in mind that each reviewer may have different meanings behind their ratings.
The reviewers we looked at were: Jordan Hoffman who is a blogger for StarTrek.com, Jamahl Epsicokhan who runs Jammer’s Reviews, Kethinov, who also has a Star Trek review site, the duo that is Treknobabble, and Keith Decandido, who has been re-watching TNG for Tor.com.
One clear area of agreement was that Shades of Grey was bad, receiving an average rating of 5 out of 100. That’s the lowest average score we’ve seen for any episode, and it’s actually deceptively high. Treknobabble gave it a score of 2/10, but that’s actually their lowest score (since it’s two reviewers rating 1-5 and adding their scores).
There was also clear agreement on Q Who?, with everyone giving it either the top score or close to it. It ended up with an average rating of 95. We gave it the lowest score (4/5), which we still feel okay about. We’re pretty reserved about handing out 5/5s.

The Measure of a Man received either perfect scores or one notch down of a perfect score from everyone except us. We gave it a 3/5 and we’re sticking to it! You can see more of our thoughts on that episode here.
