[TNG] Season 2, Episode 13 (Netflix: S2 E13): Time Squared
Rating: 3
This episode has a genuinely captivating sense of mystery. Even though the resolution and explanation are kind of a let down, they aren’t so bad that it brings the episode down to a 2.

Notes:
There’s a weird part in the beginning about Riker making bad eggs
They find a shuttle floating around with another Picard
Data and Geordi fix the shuttle and find out it’s from 6 hours in the future
The future Picard is all messed up. He can’t tell them what’s going on. As it gets closer to his native time he becomes more functional
They find a log in the shuttle that shows Enterprise being destroyed!
Picard doesn’t like the future Picard and yells at him. Troi tells him to lighten up
They come across a vortex that seems sentient
It keeps shooting Picard as if the vortex just wants to kill him alone. They realize why the future Picard would’ve thought he had to leave. Part of the reason Picard hated the future Picard was because he couldn’t accept that he would flee the ship and leave everyone to die.
The future Picard becomes more alert and tries to repeat what he did before: get off the ship, seemingly to allow Enterprise to escape
Picard shoots the future Picard
Instead they fly right into the vortex and are freed from the time loop
Picard still doesn’t really know what the heck happened
