Notes:
Everyone on board is knocked out except T’Pol, who is making a log of what happened
Archer wants his chair adjusted. If T’Pol is telling us what happened, can’t she skip to the relevant stuff? Isn’t she pressed for time or something?
Archer is writing the preface to a book about his dad
From the looks of it, he was mainly talking about the Vulcans being unhelpful and mean
So he asks T’Pol for help
Hoshi is going to cook something. I’m not pointing out needless information. These are the actual plot points.
Mayweather goes to see Phlox because he has a headache
Reed asks if he can try to improve the defense of the ship by having an alert that automatically prepares the ship. Reed is a bit more sympathetic throughout the episode because he’s the only one that seems to actually be doing something important
Reed is trying to come up with a name for his alert. Trip suggests “Reed alert”. Oh brother
Everyone starts getting crazy and obsessive
“CARROTS!” -Hoshi
Things get worse/less watchable
Then everyone falls asleep
It’s all the radiation’s fault. T’Pol manages to get Archer to steer out of the radiation
Archer ends up keeping a version of what Reed came up with and thus Reed invents red alert. The reference to later Trek technology doesn’t interest me much, but one of the characteristics I like about Reed is him wanting to improve the ship, and the viewers being able to see the ship become better throughout the series because of his changes
