[TOS] Season 1, Episode 4 (Netflix: S1 E5): The Naked Time

I like the first 20 minutes or so, but it just gets too silly. More precisely it gets silly without being funny, so it just makes me want to cringe. Strangely a number of the shows chose to depict the characters acting crazy in one of the early episodes (see TNG: The Naked Now and ENT: Strange New World) which is a perplexing decision. The audience is just getting to know the characters, so seeing them act abnormally is both difficult to write and unrewarding to the audience. It’s an iconic episode for Sulu, but still only worth a 2.
