[TNG] Season 3, Episode 2: The Ensigns of Command
Rating: 3
This is a good episode for Picard and Data, which is usually enough for a 3. Data learns a little more about how to relate to humans, and Picard demonstrates his command in negotiations.

Notes:
O’Brien plays cello?
They get a message from the Sheliak saying that there’s some human colonists in their territory
Data is the only one not effected by the hyperonic radiation, so he alone goes down to convince the colonists to get out
Their leader is a jerk, and also his voice was dubbed in, and it’s really distracting
The Sheliak aren’t easy to negotiate with
Data meets a lady that’s into robots, but her robots totally suck
She’s reeaally into robots
The colonists call a meeting to discuss the issue. Data explains to them that they’re all going to die
The colonist leader says that they can’t leave because they have a lot of cool stuff, and water, and it was really hard to build this place, man. He doesn’t give great arguments, but Data is saving his best counter arguments for the climax of the episode
I like the scene of Troi and Picard talking about communication with aliens in general, and preparing to talk with the Sheliak
Data has a meeting with some colonists but that leader jerk wasn’t invited. He comes anyway and electrocutes Data
Picard meets with the Sheliak, but it doesn’t go well
Data starts shooting stuff and stuns some people. It convinces the colonists that they don’t have a chance
“Things can be replaced. Lives cannot.” It’s near the end of the episode, so Data gives his good arguments
Picard does some research and sticks it to the Sheliak. It’s actually pretty cool
Lady: “Do you have any feelings for me?”
Data: “I have no feelings of any kind”
