[TNG] Season 2, Episode 5 (Netflix: S2 E5): Loud As A Whisper
Rating: 2
I liked aspects of this episode, but it’s a pretty slow episode, with a number of awkward moments.

Notes:
Picard is trying to figure out an orbit of a planet. This is my favorite scene.
They meet a legendary peace negotiator, Riva
Riva is def and has a “chorus” of people who can sense his thoughts and speak for him. One speaks for his artistic and thinking side, one speaks for wisdom, and one is just for flirting with people.
Riva really likes Troi. The scenes where he’s flirting with her through an interpreter are squirm-inducing.
I like how they build up Riva as a great negotiator who has never failed. His job is to bring two waring groups together for peace talks
Uh oh. That will make things more difficult
It was a rogue member of one of the groups that killed Riva’s chorus. Riva gets out of there, but they want him to come back
Riva blames himself for his friends dying and doesn’t have any confidence to continue the negotiations
Data learns Riva’s sign language super fast and it makes Pulaski smile!!
Data keeps signing words before Picard actually says them.
Pulaski says she might be able to fix Geordi’s blindness. She’s done something like it twice before. Too bad she leaves the show before he makes up his mind
Riva is convinced to give it another go. They just leave him on the planet all by himself.
